Julie DeSimone, LSW
As Director of Community Health, Julie DeSimone, LSW, provides mayors and community leaders with valuable tools and expertise to help residents live healthier lives. Julie brings extensive experience in human services on the county level that will strengthen the MWC’s focus on social determinants of health. Julie’s background working for the Somerset County Department of Human Services gives her real-world understanding of how local government can have an enormous impact on the wellbeing of residents.
Julie’s deep involvement in program development, management, and evaluation supports the MWC’s goals to create long lasting programs to improve the health of New Jersey residents. In her position, Julie provides communities with support and guidance to organize local efforts to identify critical health needs — and then she provides evidence -based tools and strategies to mayors and community leaders. Julie’s experience empowers communities to develop and implement low and no-cost programs that meet their unique needs.
Julie, who is proficient in Spanish, also has held positions with Middle Earth and EmPoWER Somerset, nonprofits serving the Somerset County area. She earned a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Sociology from Rutgers University as well as a Master of Social Work, with a concentration in Nonprofit and Public Management, from Rutgers University.
