Maternal Infant Health Hub’s Midwifery Convening

Posted On by

The New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute and Burke Foundation’s Maternal Infant Health (MIH) Hub will host an in-person midwifery convening on Thursday, April 25th from 10 am-1 pm at the RWJ Fitness and Wellness Center to celebrate its Midwifery Collaborative.

This convening will feature guest speaker Magda Schaler-Haynes, JD, MPH, Professor of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, who will review New Jersey’s current midwifery licensing and regulatory structure and present modernized, evidence-based approaches to regulate the practice of midwifery to help improve maternal infant health outcomes.

After the presentation, participants will explore the impact of midwifery and the MIH Hub through table conversations over lunch.

We will close the day with a review of the MIH Hub’s social media toolkits and how to use these resources to promote public messaging and education about midwifery practice.

This event is open to the public. Midwives, midwifery students, doulas, community leaders, state policy-makers, regulators, and other health care leaders are encouraged to attend. The maximum capacity for this event is 80 registrants.
