What you need to know:

At the Quality Institute, we believe that people who have health insurance live happier and healthier lives. Therefore, we need to get the word out about how consumers can sign up for health insurance coverage.  The health insurance marketplace “Open Enrollment” period runs from November 1st through December 15th, 2018. People who are eligible for NJ FamilyCare can enroll at any time. This page offers important resources to help encourage New Jersey residents to obtain health insurance coverage and may be updated as more information becomes available.

The deadline to sign up through the Marketplace for 2019 health insurance coverage is December 15, 2018.

Sign up for your 2019 health care coverage at Healthcare.gov or CuidadoDeSalud for Spanish speakers.

New Jersey residents can choose from one of four carriers: AmeriHealth Insurance Company of New Jersey, Horizon Healthcare Services of New Jersey, Oxford Health Plans, or Oscar Garden State Insurance Corporation.

Five Facts tells you the five things you need to know about health insurance, including that you may be subject to at least a $695/annual penalty for not having insurance; and that most people are eligible for financial subsidies to help them purchase insurance.

Beware of Health Insurance Scams:  The NJ Department of Banking & Insurance warns of common scams to avoid. Report any frauds/scams immediately to the Department at 1-800-446-7467.

NJ FamilyCare: Remember, people who are eligible for NJ FamilyCare can enroll at any time.

CALL: Center for Family Services Statewide Hotline are available at 877-9-NAVIG8 (877-962-8448) to talk about health insurance options and to help with enrollment.

The Department of Human Services is also working with five community organizations to support enrollment efforts. These organizations are providing application assistance and organizing outreach events. Let them know if you need help enrolling. The organizations are:

The Georgetown University Health Policy Institute Center on Health Insurance Reforms’ Navigator Resource Guide: This practical and hands-on guide helps Navigators and other assisting consumers with marketplace enrollment and eligibility with cost-sharing and premium assistance, the individual mandate, post-enrollment issues for individuals, and is a resource that houses overs 300 FAQs on such topics for individuals and small businesses with employer based coverage. This guide also includes a “What’s New in 2019” section, which incorporates crucial information about new policies for marketplace coverage that will affect the 2019 coverage.
