The FDA recently approved the use of the drug Crestor as a preventative treatment for heart disease, reports The Wall Street Journal. Crestor, a cholesterol-lowering drug made by AstraZeneca, is now approved for use in patients with normal or slightly elevated cholesterol levels. The approval came on the heels of an AstraZeneca-sponsored study, in which people with normal to slightly elevated cholesterol and high levels of C-reactive protein significantly reduced their risk for cardiovascular events while on Crestor.
