Research indicates that a low-carb diet could be beneficial for those looking to lower their blood pressure, reports HealthDay News.
A group of participants following a low-carb diet plan and a group following a low-fat diet and using the drug orlistat (marketed as Alli) both had weight loss success, losing almost 10% of their body weight. But blood pressure improvements were more significant in the low-carb dieters. Systolic blood pressure dropped by 5.9 mm Hg for those on the low-carb plan, while it dropped only 1.5 mm Hg for the low-fat plus orlistat group.
