A Japanese medical supply manufacturer called Nipro Medical Corp. has issued a recall for 2 million of its Exel/Exelint Huber needles, reports Modern Healthcare. The company voluntarily recalled the needles after the FDA found a defect that causes pieces of silicone to be pushed into patients’ skin. Use of the defective needles could lead to infection, pulmonary embolism, and other potentially life-threatening complications.
